I recently found an article written by a voice actor regarding technique for voicing video games.<\/a>\u00a0 I think that some of the information there is relevant not only for games but also for many other genres of voiceover work, especially commercial.\u00a0 A lot of it focuses on how to sound REAL, as it should, and has been said many times before.\u00a0 The specificity with which it\u2019s done here, however, makes it that much accessible and applicable for the new student.\u00a0 Most voiceover work is about sounding natural and unrehearsed.\u00a0 This is yet another helpful article that underlines the way this can be done.\u00a0 Kudos.<\/p>\n

On the lighter side of voiceover industry information is this fun article on the top ten iconic voiceover performances<\/a>, as listed by a casting director.\u00a0 This list is in no way comprehensive or \u201cabsolute\u201d, and in this subjective business it never could be.\u00a0 However, it can certainly serve as an inspiration for voice over students out there looking to learn from some of the best.\u00a0 By the some of the best, I should clarify, I mean great actors who are able to imbue not only a sense of believability but also bring a whole universe of character and personality to the table.\u00a0 A compelling voice delivers not only a natural read but one that captures our interest.\u00a0 A voiceover performance should captivate and create conviction.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s always nice to be inspired in the voice over business and take a break from the overwhelming task of understanding voice over concepts and techniques.\u00a0 This youtube video called Cut the Excuses<\/a> certainly doesn\u2019t honor the challenges involved in marketing yourself in such a competitive industry , not to mention the actual training involved, but rather gives you a moment of rest from all that, a moment of empowerment.\u00a0 Bill (Dewees) talks about your voiceover career in a way that puts the entire brunt of the outcome on you.\u00a0 This is not only (mostly) true but rather refreshing.\u00a0 He reminds the voice actor to really take stock of their actions, to look at their level of responsibility and commitment, rather than focus on the parts they can\u2019t control.\u00a0 Sometimes it\u2019s messages like this that can push a person to actually MAKE IT HAPPEN.\u00a0 For me, well, it helped me fill another blog.\u00a0 Thanks Bill \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
