We analyzed this next voice over script in an earlier blog about voiceover analysis being the key to booking the audition.<\/a>\u00a0 Here we will go into greater detail, line by line, on the choices that can be made to connect better with the message and really make it your OWN, while simultaneously telling the writer you GET IT.\u00a0 So review once more:<\/p>\n

Put your ideas to work at \u2018will you join us. com\u2019<\/p>\n

We already discussed the reasons for not making the word \u201cyou\u201d the focal point, but for newcomers \u2013 the \u201cyou\u201d in the listeners\u2019 ear is understood.\u00a0 They don\u2019t need that word amplified.\u00a0 But what is it that relates to you?\u00a0 The chance to POWER your own CITY.\u00a0 If you can only choose one or two words in a sentence to make a point, choose wisely.\u00a0 Often it is as simple as subject\/verb.\u00a0 Other times it\u2019s not as straightforward.\u00a0 How will you do it?\u00a0 Again, no need to punch \u201cyou.\u201d\u00a0 The action word here is DO.\u00a0 \u201cit\u201d is understood, since we already talked about what \u201cit\u201d is in the first sentence.\u00a0 The next sentence is a bit longer and will be an exception to the \u201conly choosing 1 or 2 words in a sentence\u201d rule.\u00a0 Let\u2019s also assume the product name is, in a way, an assumptive as well.\u00a0 Punching the product can be overkill many times.\u00a0 A way of shouting you\u2019re an announcer.\u00a0 That\u2019s not how we talk in real life.\u00a0 We speak to the point.\u00a0 The point is introducing its new ONLINE GAME.\u00a0 This game let\u2019s you choose from a WIDE RANGE OF ENERGY SOURCES.\u00a0 Why could this potentially be a focal point?\u00a0 Why not \u201cdemands\u201d or \u201ccity\u201d?\u00a0 Because then they go on to list this wide range of energy sources!\u00a0 Ding ding.\u00a0 As with an list, vary your inflections and keep pauses tight.\u00a0 Don\u2019t test your listener\u2019s patience.\u00a0 What does this game ultimately exist for?\u00a0 To help us understand the ENERGY CHALLENGES we face.\u00a0 What\u2019s the reward for this understanding?\u00a0 The payoff?\u00a0 We can SOLVE them.\u00a0 Yes, we may want to give a little attention to yummy words like \u201cinspiration\u201d and \u201cknow-how\u201d.\u00a0 Maybe, maybe not.\u00a0 Depends how much impact you want on SOLVE.\u00a0 In voiceover scripts, as in ordinary conversations, more impact on a word comes from less impact on all the other words surrounding it.\u00a0 This last sentence stumps me a bit.\u00a0 The possibility of emphasizing \u201cPut\u201d gives power right up front, and to a command word no less.\u00a0 I also feel like breaking a rule here and putting \u201cyour\u201d on a platform, to remind them that THEY have a chance to DO SOMETHING.\u00a0 Your choice.\u00a0 Pick a point, and stick to it.\u00a0 Make sure it counts.\u00a0 But at least now you have some more choices to consider.\u00a0 So, the final edit:<\/p>\n
